Automotive Belt

There are three types of belts commonly used in automotive industry:cogged v belts, poly v belts and timing belts.

The installation position of the car drive belt:It is mainly installed in the crankshaft turn cam of automobile engine, water pump, generator, air-conditioning compressor, power steering pump, etc.

1. The cogged v belt is a belt driven by the crankshaft, and its main purpose is to drive the engine fan and water pump.

2. The role of the ribbed belt is to drive the generator, air-conditioning compressor, and power steering pump, which are hung on the crankshaft pulley and tightened by the air-conditioning belt tensioner.When this belt is damaged, the booster will feel heavy and there is no steering boost; if the air conditioner is turned on, the air conditioner compressor will not start, so it cannot be cooled.

3. The timing belt is an important part of the engine's air distribution system. It is connected with the crankshaft and matched with a certain transmission ratio to ensure the accuracy of the intake and exhaust time.

4. The function of the timing belt is the sequence of opening and closing the ignition of the piston stroke (up and down movement) of the valve when the engine is running. Under the action of the "timing" connection, it is necessary to maintain "synchronous" operation at all times.

The engine drives various auxiliary mechanisms through a belt drive, such as the compressor of the air conditioner, the power steering oil pump, and the alternator, etc.If the belt slips or breaks, the related auxiliary mechanisms will not operate normally, which will affect the normal use of the car. Therefore, it is necessary to check the transmission belt regularly.
